"Instant Mom" star Tia Mowry-Hardict is joining Fox's original crime drama "Rosewood" in a major recurring role, reported Deadline. The "Tia & Tamera" twin TV star joins Morris Chestnut (Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr.), Jaina Lee Ortiz (Det. Annalise Villa) and Gabrielle Dennis (Pippy Rosewood) in the hit show.

The freshman drama will return to Fox for a second season where Mowry will play Cassie, a woman who used to be homeless but achieved the American dream of owning her own business, noted Seattle Pi.

Mowry's character is a restaurant owner and childhood friend of Pippy's from a mysterious time in Pippy's life, according to TV Guide. Cassie is a lesbian, which will create TV drama because the lovely brunette Pippy plays a lesbian engaged to Tara Milly Izikoff (Anna Konkle), a.k.a. TMI.

Mowry became famous from her first teen role as Tia Landry in the sitcom "Sister, Sister," where she played opposite her identical twin sister Tamera Mowry. She went on to other successful shows, having portrayed a medical student in the comedy-drama TV series "The Game" from 2006 through 2012. Her most recent role in the comedy sitcom "Instant Mom" had a three-season run, according to Deadline.

The procedural drama "Rosewood" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox before the hit drama "Empire" at 9 p.m. EST.
