Sen. Ted Cruz (R.-Texas) called out President Barack Obama on Wednesday while talking to reporters, challenging him to "come back and insult me to my face."

This bold declaration comes in response to Obama's to accusation of Republicans "political posturing" following the Paris attacks, when they announced they only want to allow Christian Syrians, rather than Muslim ones, into the U.S., according to The Huffington Post.

"At first, they were too scared of the press being too tough on them in the debates. Now they are scared of three-year-old orphans," Obama said on a trip to Manila. "That doesn't seem so tough to me."

Cruz took offense to Obama's "cheap insults," saying that instead of talking trash about him overseas, Obama should do it directly to his face, according to The New York Times.

"If you want to insult me, you can do it overseas, you can do it in Turkey, you can do it in foreign countries. But I would encourage you, Mr. President, come back and insult me to my face," Cruz said, staring directly into the camera.

Cruz took it one step further, and even challenged Obama to a debate about Syrian refugees that could be held any place, at any time, according to Business Insider.

"Let's have a debate on Syrian refugees, right now. We can do it anywhere you want. I would prefer it in the United States and not overseas, where you're making the insults," he said. "It's easy to toss a cheap insult when no one can respond."

Cruz concluded by calling Obama's remarks "utterly unfitting of a President."
