Singer-songwriter Mariah Carey released the trailer for her Hallmark Channel film "A Christmas Melody," reported Jezebel. Carey portrays a former high school rival to the leading actress, Lacey Chabert. The 45-year-old Grammy-award winner directed the made-for-TV film, noted Billboard.

The songstress portrays the president of the PTA and she tries to make her former high school rival Kristen (Lacey Chabert) feel as unwelcome as possible, according to the Hallmark Channel. Emily, the young daughter, recently moved with her mom to begin a new life just before the holidays, and Danny (Brennan Elliott) the music teacher helps her through the adjustment process while intervening to help Emily's mother find love and happiness as well.

"A Christmas Melody" is truly a Hallmark Channel holiday film. Here's a brief summary of the movie from TV Guide: "Kristen and Emily struggle to find their new normal with the help of the music teacher Danny and Kristin’s Aunt Sarah (Kathy Najimy), the local coffee shop owner. With a little holiday magic and music, Kristin and Emily find that home is where the heart is."

A Christmas Melody will premiere Saturday, Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on Hallmark, reported The YBF.
