Ronda Rousey broke her media silence after she was sent to the hospital for precautionary measures after she experienced her first MMA defeat against Holly Holm, Fox Sports reported. After she succumbed to a knockout loss during UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday, Rousey vowed to make her comeback return.

"I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support," the 28-year-old former women's bantamweight champion wrote in a statement posted to her official Instagram page. "I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I'm fine. As I had mentioned before, I'm going to take a little bit of time, but I'll be back."

Rousey was knocked out after Holm executed a kick that connected with Rousey's head in the second round, as previously reported by HNGN. The loss was a first for Rousey, who had previously held a 12-0 perfect record. Rousey was taken to a local hospital to treat her injuries immediately after her knockout.

UFC president Dana White tweeted an update on Rousey's condition in reply to a fan.

"She's good, just had to get some stitches in her lip," White wrote on Twitter.

In a celebratory statement after her win, Holm told Newsweek that defeating Rousey was no easy feat and she had the proper coaching in order to prepare for her fight, which eventually led to her win against Rousey.

"I have to say, everything we worked on presented itself in the fight," Holm told Newsweek. "Every grab she tried to get, on the cage - I have not spent this much time in the gym before any fight in my life."
