Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

For the longest time, fans have wondered why type of creature Academy Award winner Luptia Nyong'o would be playing in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." It was known that her character would be done by motion-capture, but what would she look like? What would her role be? Is she a good guy or a bad guy? There were so many questions.

Now it appears as if a leaked image of N'yongo's character, Maz Kanata, has emerged.

Kanata has been described a space pirate who may or may not be Force sensitive. Conflicting reports have suggested she is both a good and a bad guy. Some rumors have indicated that she is instrumental in helping the new generation of heroes (Daisy Ridley's John Boyega's Finn, Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron) on their quest to find Luke Skywalker in "The Force Awakens."

Given all of the voice over dialogue we've heard from her in trailers and TV spots we're inclined to think she much more than a shady space outlaw. Furthermore, Entertainment Weekly's Anthony Breznican believes she could have very special abilities.

"We've only seen her on the poster - a smallish figure with black goggles," Breznican wrote. "Her eyes are covered because they hold a secret power. That's why her narration is significant: 'I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people. I see your eyes. I know your eyes.'"

Is this power a weapon or is it more of a guiding tool?

N'yongo's character has also been rumored to spark a crucial flashback scene involving Luke Skywalker that acts as one of the main catalysts for the film. As of now, there is no reason to believe she is a Jedi. But she clearly has wisdom and talents that are similar to the once prosperous keepers of the peace.

We'll get our answers when "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens on Dec. 18.
