Lamar Odom turns 36 today, and thanks to his estranged wife Khloé Kardashian, he will still be able to celebrate with those closest to him while he remains in the hospital following his overdose on Oct. 13.

The party at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles will be small, but meaningful. Kardashian took it upon herself to reach out to some of his former teammates and two of his friends that aren't NBA players, a source told People. Since the Lakers are on a road trip, his good friend and former teammate Kobe Bryant will be sending him a gift and connecting via FaceTime along with Ron Artest. Some Clippers players will do their best to stop by after practice, and his trainer of 15 years will also be in attendance.

It will take place in a private room, instead of his personal hospital room, as only a small amount of people are approved to visit by doctors. "It's something very small and very short but will make him feel amazing," the source said. "Then Khloé will be with him for the rest of the day. It's just a very small group of people because Lamar cannot handle too much stimulus, but the doctors are allowing a small group for a short time on his birthday."

"There will be balloons and a cake," another source told E! News. "Khloe has organized everything. it will be the Kardashian clan and a few of Lamar's closest friends."

Kardashian has been there with Odom through it all. Ever since he was hospitalized, she has rarely left his side and has been doing whatever she can to make sure he gets the help he needs medically. She even spent Halloween with him in the hospital.

His aunt JaNean Mercer, who has also visited the hospital on several different occasions, released a statement earlier today in honor of his birthday.

"Happy Birthday Lamar! We want to THANK everyone from around the world for your continued prayers and well wishes for Lamar and our family," she said, according to Us Weekly. "Every birthday with Lamar is special but today is an especially momentous occasion and we honor GOD for this day and thank HIM for allowing us to spend this time together. Please continue to keep Lamar and our family in prayers as he continues on this miraculous journey."

Kardashian will be leaving the hospital later tonight to attend her mom Kris Jenner's Gatsby-themed 60th birthday party, which she and her siblings Kim, Kourtney, Rob, Kendall and Kylie all planned.
