Harry Giles is considered one of the best basketball prospects in the nation right now as he is a consensus top three recruit and many people have said that he is the favorite to be the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Giles has just finished up his official visits and is nearing a decision date but he has reportedly torn his ACL which will keep him out of his final year of high school, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com.

Giles reportedly suffered the injury less than two minutes into the season opener for his high school team. The tear is reportedly just a slight one but he is still likely to undergo surgery and will be looking at a lengthy rehab. This tear was in Giles' right knee but he reportedly tore both the MCL and ACL in his left knee back in 2013 so this one isn't nearly as bad, according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.

Based on what scouts were saying Giles took a little while to get back to form after the first ACL tear but in this past year he had really gotten back to the old dominating form he had previously shown and was just getting comfortable. Now, even though this injury isn't as serious, he will have to undergo surgery again and work his way back into peak form yet again.

The 6 foot-10 power forward is on the verge of announcing where he will play his college basketball in 2016. Giles was initially expected to announce his decision on Novemeber 12th but now he has reportedly moved that up to Friday, according to Paul Biancardi of ESPN.

The prevailing wisdom is that when Giles does announce his decision he is very likely to choose Duke as his good friend Jayson Tatum has already committed and Giles is from High Point, North Carolina. Duke already has the number two class in the nation but adding Giles would more than likely move them to number one overall for 2016 regardless of Giles' injury. The 17 year old was able to recover from a more gruesome injury last time so it seems as though it is safe to say he will be able to recover from this as well and be ready to contribute as a freshman wherever he chooses to go to school next year.
