Many Apple users of the iPhone 5S are reporting that their new smartphones are displaying the "blue screen of death" after using certain apps on the company's latest smartphone. Despite the title, the blue screen does not brick the device but merely forces it into a reboot.

According to PCMag the glitch primarily appears using Apple's Numbers, Pages or Keynote apps. However, others have experienced the issue while using FaceTime, Safari, the camera and other apps. In videos from those who have reported the glitch, and apparently have been able to repeat it, the blue screen only lasts for a couple of seconds before the phone goes to a black screen and shows the Apple logo, indicating a reboot.

"If I open a document in Numbers, then press the power button, the phone seems to power itself off almost instantly instead of just going to sleep," one user wrote on the Apple forums last month.

"I am having the same problem myself when using the pages app to open my saved resume and then trying to email it to someone," another 5s owner explained. "If I do that then go to open the notes app that I have a typed message I want to copy and paste in the same email, as soon as I paste it in the email the screen goes blue and restarts."

One user reported that he or she had not opened iWork apps on his or her 5S but was still experiencing the blue screen of death.

"Now is stuck on the loading screen!!! wont boot up!! Sad for me since I got my 5S just today and its already completely unusable!" the user said, clearly upset over the situation with his or her new iPhone.

Apple has not yet commented on the glitch or reported exactly what causes it or how to fix it. In the meantime, users can check out videos like the one featured below in order to diagnose their device's symptoms.
