It was sad to see Andy Grammer and his partner Allison Holker go last night after they just couldn't impress the "Dancing With The Stars" judges with their Waltz to Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely," but the singer was just happy he was able to do this all for his mom.

The "Honey, I'm Good" singer started off the competition with some pretty low scores, and was really starting to improve week after week, but last night he got way too caught up in his emotions. While he was arguably the most improved dancer this season, his shot at the Mirrorball trophy ended last night.

As upset as he was to leave, he did say that it was "kind of fitting" that he got to go home after doing a dance to remember his late mother, who passed away from cancer.

"It's been a really sweet process," he told the judges. "It helped me kind of grieve through it."

Throughout the entire competition, Grammer had said how he was doing it all for his mom. He wanted to make her proud, and as someone who loved the show and loved to dance, he knew this was the perfect way to honor her.

"I came on this show because she loved 'Dancing With the Stars' and dancing in general," he said Tuesday morning on "Good Morning America. "So it felt full circle. Grieving is such an interesting thing and I found it through dancing on this show."

"I never imagined I was going to grieve my mothers passing through dance...even that sentence is amazing," he wrote on Instagram. "A genuine thank you to everyone who watched, cheered, cried, voted and came through it all with me. I will take this experience and the wisdom it's given me forever. To the old friends and all the lovely new ones, it has been a pleasure."

He and Holker had great chemistry on the show and it was great to see how close they had gotten. She really helped him to let go of his fears and give it his all each and every time they stepped onto the dance floor.

"This lady helped me honor my mom tonight and I will forever me grateful," Grammer captioned a photo of him and Holker embracing.

"I had an absolutely incredible time dancing with this man right here!!!" Holker captioned the same photo. "You were so wonderful and I am so proud of your journey, thank you for being so great day in and day out #TeamAndison forever!!!!!"
