Yesterday, more than 50,000 people ran the five boroughs of New York City as part of the New York City Marathon. Celebrities such as Alicia Keys, Ethan Hawke and Tiki Barber even took part in the 26.2-mile affair.

Dressed in all black, Keys finished the race in just under six hours. The "Empire State of Mind" singer, a native New Yorker, took on her second marathon for the Keep A Child Alive charity, which helps deliver medicine to families in Africa, according to the New York Post.

Former New York Giants running back Barber returned for the race once again after participating in it last year. He improved on his time from 2014 and finished the race in 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Academy Award-nominated actor Hawke ran the race alongside his wife Ryan. The two ran for the Doe Fund, a charity that helps pull homeless people off the streets and away from addiction. The actor completed the marathon in four hours and 25 minutes, reported Sports Illustrated

Other celebrities who ran the marathon included "30 Rock" actress Katrina Bowden, "Catfish" host Nev Schulman and former professional tennis player James Blake. Blake ran for the James Blake Foundation, which concentrates on cancer research, and finished in just under four hours.

"Never again," Blake joked to the New York Daily News after completing the race. "It was all unknown. Once I got past 20 miles, that was the longest I had ever run."

Bowden completed her second New York City Marathon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training in 4 hours and nineteen minutes, while Schulman completed his marathon in 3 hours and 34 minutes.
