Microsoft has rolled out a major update for its Android version of the app allowing users to search content from mobiles. It offers better storage options, new colors and automatic vacation response.

Microsoft has been making efforts to bring the best out of each service it owns. While reports of Microsoft offering leading smartphone makers like Samsung, HTC and Huawei to add its Windows Phone OS as an option for users to choose from on Android smartphones have surfaced online, the software giant has not called it quits on updating its services.

Now it's time for the web-based email service, Outlook.com to get a little tweak. Microsoft announced Thursday that it has rolled out a latest update for its Android version of Outlook.com email service.

The update to Outlook.com brings the Android app to Version 7.8.2. The biggest change is that the new server-side search feature, which allows users to search content on a wider range, even if what you are looking for is not synced on the Smartphone or tablet. This can be very useful for those who constantly use the email service for business purposes that require content searches more frequently. Users will not have to rely on computers to find important messages.

Moreover, the mobile app has no limit on downloading the number of messages in the inbox. However, users will get different intervals such as 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, and unlimited to choose from in order download the messages.

The new update is focused on delivering the best experience for smartphone users as 68 percent of all users access the web mail service via mobile devices, according to Microsoft. The refreshed app covers over 150 improvements in addition to the new features, the company said in a blog post, Thursday.

Users can also set aliases and send emails from them with the new Android app. The function has already been introduced for Web and Windows Phone users. Users get a better customization option on the mobile app by choosing from 11 different colors. Besides these features, Microsoft has added vacation replies, which allows users to send an automatic reply to anyone while enjoying a vacation.

These addition of features to the Outlook.com suggests that the company is trying to get its email service to maximum users and compete with the likes of Gmail and Yahoo.
