Controversial Republican candidate Donald Trump has again made headlines for his bare-knuckled comments, this time targeting Muslim women wearing burquas, according to CNN.

Trump, while addressing supporters in New Hampshire about how the American foreign policy has flopped in the Middle East, joked that Muslim women liked wearing the face covering as it reduces their need for makeup.

"I saw a woman interviewed. They said 'We want to wear them; we've worn them for a thousand years. Why would anybody tell us not?' They want to!" said Trump. "What the hell are we getting involved for?"

A charged up Trump then went on: "Fact is, it's easy. You don't have to put on makeup, look how beautiful everyone looks," he added, pointing at the audience that roared with laughter.

Trump has often found himself under fire from many quarters of the political divide, for his often blunt - and at times demeaning - comments, according to American News.

Last month, he attacked Megyn Kelly, who had moderated a Republican debate, suggesting that her temper that evening was due to her having her period.

"You could see blood coming out of her, from everywhere," Trump said at the time.

In September, Trump agreed with a man who suggested that America should get rid of all Muslims, according to The Express Tribute.

"We have training camps growing where they want to kill us. That's my question, when can we get rid of them?" asked the man, as Trump campaigned in New Hampshire.

"We're going to be looking at a lot of different things. A lot of people are saying that, and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We're going to be looking at that and plenty of other things," promised Trump.

Islam has been a thorny issue during this campaign period, with Ben Carson, another Republican presidential candidate, declaring in September that Americans shouldn't elect a Muslim president since Islam is not compatible with the American constitution.
