Google's new online contest invites people to nominate anyone who makes the web simply 'great' and win a free HP Chromebook in the bargain.

If you were amazed by the new HP Chromebook 11, made with Google, and still have it on your wish list, then here may be just the opportunity to win one. Thanks to Google, a new online contest can get you a free Chromebook by either nominating yourself or anyone-even a cat, which according to you makes the Web simply "great."

Google announced the new HP Chromebook Tuesday, Oct. 8. The new machine has everything that is looked for in a Chromebook, a super bright display, ultra-light, great audio and in addition 100GB of Google Drive storage free for two years.

To win a free HP Chromebook, Google asks users to nominate someone who make the Web an "amazing" place. There are various categories including "super-proud pet owners", "snap-happy parents", work buddies", "besties", "night owls", "film fanatics" and more, from which users can choose to nominate.

The nomination process is simple, where users notify that nominee via Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or email, according to CNET. Then the nominee will receive a link asking for a photo to enter the contest. Google then organizes the photos in different categories and chooses the best ones. The winners will receive one Chromebook each.

The contest lasts till 6 a.m. PT, October 16. Currently, there are 868 Chromebooks to be won within 6 days and 2 hours (at the time of writing). So give it a try and submit your nomination. And if luck is on your side, then you can scratch the HP Chromebook from your wishlist.
