As the premiere date for the new movie adaptation of Stephen King's classic novel "Carrie" draws closer, so do the number of terrifying pranks on unsuspecting visitors to a NYC coffee house.

In order to scare the living daylights out of a group of West Village coffee house customers, Thinkmodo, a viral video marketing company, created an elaborate prank involving a fake brick wall, a stuntman, remote controlled tables and chairs, spring-loaded pictures and books and an ensemble of actors seated inside the shop for a very convincing overall effect that was captured by hidden cameras.

In the video of recently posted to their YouTube channel CarrieNYC, Thinkmodo pranksters were excited to "f*** with some customers" who entered the coffee shop unaware of what they were about to witness.

Behind-the-scenes camera operators watched each new customer order before beginning each round of the prank, which involved one of the male actors accidentally spilling hot coffee all over a woman's lap.

"Oh my God!" the woman (who happens to be telekinetic) cries. "You just ruined all of my stuff!"

Though the offender apologizes for the spill, before long he is thrown up against the wall by the woman's telekinetic tantrum as the surprised customers scream in horror. The woman then begins to push away tables and chairs as books fall from the shelves, unleashing an ear-piercing scream. Though customer on-lookers are clearly terrified, none of them can help but stand back and watch the insanity unfold before them.

The new film adaption of "Carrie," based on King's 1974 novel, is directed by Kimberly Peirce, the screenplay written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The new horror film stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort and Julianne Moore, set to hit theaters Oct. 18.
