In the closing minutes of this week's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," it appeared Hunter had signed the death warrant on Agent May's ex-husband Andrew when he disregarded Ward's threat of killing the S.H.I.E.L.D. psychologist and went guns blazing at the new Hydra leader.

Back at the convenience store where Andrew (Blair Underwood) was shopping, new Hydra recruit Werner von Strucker (Spencer Treat Clark) approached the professor with two other Hydra thugs flashing a lighter and a full can of gas. Then cut to a lifeless body bleeding out on the floor, gasoline flowing toward the lighter's flame and Strucker running from the building seconds before it blows up.

Whether Andrew was the man on the floor remains a mystery (the camera only showed a man's shoes and the bottom of his pants), but the chance of his death will leave Agent May reeling when she can't come to his rescue.

"I can say [Andrew's] life is in danger and May can't get to him, so she's feeling very sucky about it," Ming-Na Wen, who plays the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, told Entertainment Weekly.

Hunter's (Nick Blood) selfish actions to kill Ward (Brett Dalton) no matter the consequences to Andrew also won't bring him and Agent May any closer, especially since he failed to kill the ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

"She never really liked him that much," Wen joked. "She admires his loyalty and his drive to get something done, but it's so emotionally driven that it bothers her a lot. Of course, what he did in this episode certainly doesn't win him any brownie points. I think she's quite pissed at him, because he was willing to sacrifice Andrew, even when she said don't do it."

May, Hunter and Andrew were not featured in the promo for next week's episode, which seems to focus on what happened to Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) when she went missing for three months in another universe.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
