Instagram's new app, called Boomerang, will let Apple iPhone owners loop their photos into one-second videos, according to Business Insider.

Originally, Apple released an app called Live Photos which created three-second videos out of photos on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, reported CNET Magazine. But the looping videos could only be shared with other iPhone 6s or 6s Plus owners. Owners were not able to share their videos on social media.

The way the Boomerang app works is that you press the capture button, and it takes a burst of 10 photos, which are linked together to form a one-second video, according to Gizmodo. Users can share the videos, which can be played forwards or backwards, on Instagram or Facebook.

Boomerang can shoot videos in either portrait or landscape mode, Instagram explained. The mini-videos are saved to the phone's camera roll.
