Colin Jost is no longer the head writer at "Saturday Night Live." The comedian walked away from his head writer duties in order to solely concentrate on writing and anchoring "Weekend Update" along with his co-host Michael Che.

The change was first noticed by SplitSider when Jost's name was not credited as head writer in last week's Tracey Morgan-hosted episode. His name was replaced by writers Rob Klein and Bryan Tucker, who were listed as current head writers instead of Jost. The change aired in the first two episodes of the show, hosted by Miley Cyrus and Amy Schumer, but it wasn't noticed by anyone.

"He wasn't demoted," an industry source told the New York Daily News. "He chose to focus on 'Weekend Update' and is still a writer on 'SNL.'"

Jost first joined "Saturday Night Live" as a writer in season 31 before he was promoted to head writer alongside Seth Meyers in 2012 for season 38 of "SNL."

Jost started to move away from the head writer position at the end of season 40 of the late night comedy show. The last time he was credited as head writer was last year's season finale that was hosted by Louis C.K., reported Vanity Fair. Jost was also active in writing the Lorne Michaels- produced "Staten Island Summer" film, which was released over the summer.

"Saturday Night Live" returns on Nov. 7 with host Donald Trump and musical guest Sia.
