A cancelled wedding lead to a homeless feast as the generous bride's family turned her pain into an act of kindness that fed the homeless in her community, in a feast like they haven't had in quite some time, according to the Huffington Post. As the groom got "cold feet" the night before, the family continued on with her wedding, inviting the homeless to come enjoy the lavish feast of salad, salmon, gnocchi and tri-tip beef.

"I think it's very generous, actually," said Erika Craycraft, who dined in the meal at the four-star hotel in Sacramento, according to WHNT. "To lose out on something so important to yourself and then give it to someone else is really giving."

Craycraft and her husband, Rashad Abdullah, enjoyed the feast with their five children.

"When you're going through a hard time and struggle, for you to get out to do something different and with your family - it was a really a blessing," Abdullah said.

"When I found out ...that the wedding would not be taking place," said Kari Duane, mother-of-the-bride, "It just seemed like, of course, this would be something that we do to give back." The meal at Sacramento's Citizen Hotel fed around 90 homeless men, women and children, hosted by the Duane family minus the bride.

The family also made other acts of kindness out of their sadness, by donating the non-refundable wedding flowers to a local nursing home as well.

"I feel a lot of heartache and heartbreak for her," Kari said of her daughter, according to People. "But I will take away something good from this, I will."
