Members of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas announced on Twitter that it will protest against Kentucky clerk Kim Davis Monday, on the grounds that she is a "proud, self-righteous hypocrite" and an "adulterer."

The church, which is not officially affiliated with any Baptist denomination and renowned for picketing funerals with inflammatory signs about gay people, argues Davis has committed adultery by getting divorced and remarried.

"That man that Kim Davis is living with, and calling her husband, IS NOT! Her husband is Dwain Wallace, who she married when she was 18-years-old. It was adultery at the beginning, adultery in the middle and it is indeed adultery today!," the group said, according to the International Business Times.

Davis became a celebrity of sorts earlier this year when she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, defying the orders of the Supreme Court and a federal judge. She was jailed temporarily, but was released within a few days and became an icon to people who support religious freedom and oppose gay marriage, as well as certain conservative presidential candidates like Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz who attended a ceremony for he release.

Despite their shared opposition to same-sex marriage, the Westboro Baptist Church, which has been classified by many as a hate group, still loathe Davis, reported Time. The group over Twitter said that God "does not require YOU to disobey to deal with this nation," over homosexual marriage.

Ultimately, they believe she is a 'fake Christian" and blame her for helping to push the same-sex marriage agenda throughout America through her own sin.
