The discovery of a star called KIC 8462852 has led to exciting news about a possible advanced alien civilization. The star was found to have very strange transit signal, which prompted scientists to wonder whether this is caused by alien megastructures, an earlier HNGN report said.

"Over the duration of the Kepler mission, KIC 8462852 was observed to undergo irregularly shaped, aperiodic dips in flux down to below the 20 percent level," a paper published by the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society stated. "It was really weird. We thought it might be bad data or movement on the spacecraft, but everything checked out."

The scientists who have been studying the strange star began to toy with the idea that the phenomenon was caused by an advanced alien civilization. In order to confirm this, they are now turning to the so-called Dyson Spheres theory, based on the hypothesis brought forward by physicist Freeman Dyson that as aliens become more advanced they tend to harness a star's energy to the point that the entire star is sheathed in solar collectors, or what is called as the Dyson Sphere, Popular Science reports

Another version being considered involves a second theory, known as the Dyson swarm. Here, rather than enclosing the entire star with energy-collecting structures, the solar collectors will only encircle one or few of the star's orbits, making it possible to block a percentage of the star.

In order to test the Dyson theories, researchers wants to spend more time studying the star using the Green Bank Telescope facility in West Virginia. They expect to gain more insight from the radio signals that emerge from the star's location.
