A leaked classified White House memo Sunday revealed a shocking truth about Tony Blair's stance on the Iraq War. The memo, from Secretary of State Colin Powell to President George W. Bush, stated that Blair "will be with us" on military action, contradicting Blair's public stance during the time, reported the Daily Mail.

The memo was written March 28, 2002, a week prior to Blair's famous visit to Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. After his visit, Blair told his supporters that he is not seeking military action against Iraq, and that he was seeking a diplomatic solution to the crisis, according to Fox News.

Former Tory Shadow Home Secretary David Davis is unsurprised by the revelation, stating the leaked memos only serve as proof that Blair lied to the public about his stance in the war.

"The memos prove in explicit terms what many of us have believed all along: Tony Blair effectively agreed to act as a frontman for American foreign policy in advance of any decision by the House of Commons or the British Cabinet," said Davis.

Despite the damning allegations against the prime minister, Blair's office has maintained the memo was nonetheless consistent with his testimony to the U.K.'s Iraq war inquiry, which began years ago, and whose conclusions still have not been released.
