Amazon is taking a stance against fake online reviews, filing a lawsuit in Seattle, Wash. against more than 1,000 people who have allegedly left fake reviews on its products, according to BBC News.

This isn't the first time that the e-commerce giant has sued over fake reviews. The company filed lawsuits against numerous websites in April for selling falsified reviews.

Amazon claims that, using websites like Fiverr, people are paying others to leave false reviews on certain products, The Guardian reported. The company has since called these reviews "false, misleading, and inauthentic."

The defendants themselves haven't been identified by name, as the lawsuit is currently calling them "John Does," BBC News noted.

"While small in number, these reviews can significantly undermine the trust that consumers and the vast majority of sellers and manufacturers place in Amazon, which in turn tarnishes Amazon's brand," Amazon's suit reads, according to The International Business Times.

Amazon has tried to stop these fake reviewers in the past by shutting accounts down and taking appropriate legal action. However, this hasn't stopped the fake review services themselves, which is why Amazon has decided to go after the individuals themselves.
