Fox has given its first full season order of the fall to "Rosewood," the medical examiner drama starring Morris Chestnut.

The network announced on Friday that it picked up the show's back nine episodes. "Rosewood" has performed strong in the timeslot behind "Empire" on Wednesdays, averaging 7.3 million viewers with a 2.2 demo rating (adults 18-49).

"'Rosewood' has proven to be a real self-starter for us, which is a tremendous feat on this highly competitive night. (Creator) Todd Harthan, Morris, Jaina (Lee Ortiz) and Lorraine (Toussaint) and the entire cast and crew have done a fantastic job creating a gorgeous, sexy world that is the perfect complement to 'Empire,'" said David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. "The upcoming episodes are so compelling as we build out the family dynamics, and with today's order, we're excited to explore the world of 'Rosewood' even further this season."

"Rosewood" is the second freshman series to receive a full season order after NBC's "Blindspot." ABC also ordered an additional six episodes of its Sunday drama "Quantico" for a total of 19 episodes with the possibilities for a few more installments.

Fox ordered six additional scripts for its Tuesday comedies "The Grinder" and "Grandfathered" on Thursday.

"Rosewood" airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
