A fashion brand in the U.K. has found an unlikely inspiration for coming up with a new and stylish accessory that could spark an anti-pollution style movement. Freka, a British fashion label, has launched a face mask that is both a "a bold blend of science and style," according to The Guardian.

The face wear is sold for $244 (£160) and is part of Freka's Limited Collection N°1 range. The accessory comes in a variety of colors so that it appeals to an individual's fashion senses, but the material is also helpful in filtering out germs, pollens and pollutants in the atmosphere. Anyone using it does not only look fashionable, but can breathe only clean air, according to Daily Mail.

"We have spent a lot of time carefully studying the face to create something incredibly unique that truly defines the meaning of face wear. Considering our face is the most complex and sensitive part of our body, we feel we have just tapped into the limitless possibilities of face wear and look forward to expanding our collection beyond 'Limited Collection N°1,'" said the designer Frank Brosboom, according to Mens' Wear Style U.K.

Brosboom also said that design aesthetics of the face mask were inspired by classic British tailoring, with Japanese subtleties.

This isn't the first time the face mask was introduced as a fashion accessory, though, as it has been a fashion trend in the China and Japan since last year, according to Mashable.

During the Mercedes Benz China Fashion Week, designer QIAODAN Yin Peng presented a line of functional and fashionable face masks to make a statement against Beijing's worsening air pollution, according to CNN. Yin's collection is a favorite accessory by marathon participants, who run the streets of China under hazardous smog levels.
