After his father showed signs of having a heart attack Sept. 27, Michael O'Neil acted fast and drove almost 30 miles above the speed limit to get him to the hospital. The 30-year-old Chicago man got pulled over by a police officer and received a $1,500 ticket for speeding, according to the New York Post.

When the police officer walked over to the car and informed Michael that he was speeding, his father William said he was having a heart attack and showed him his bag of medication.

"I lifted it up and he said, 'You don't look like you're having a heart attack,' which, you know, um, was pretty rough," said William. "I mean, that's pretty rough."

William was very upset that the officer wrote his son a ticket, especially after the ambulance arrived. He filed a complaint and requested an apology from the trooper.

When asked about the accident, police spokesman Master Sgt. Matthew Boerwinkle said the officer had proper conduct and follwed procedure correctly, reported Fox 46.

Boerwinkle added that anyone with a medical emergency should call 911 instead of driving to the hospital themselves.

Luckily, William underwent surgery the next day and plans to return to work this week, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
