When Maj. Gen. Ryan Gonsalves, the post commander at Fort Carson, Colo., stood to welcome members of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, little did he know that he would be upstaged by a toddler.

Two-year-old Karas Oglesby could not wait to meet her dad, so the precocious little girl ran up to her father, who had just returned after a nine-month deployment to south-west Asia and was being welcomed back by the military top brass, to give him a knee high hug.

"Everyone thought it was awesome," said Fort Carson spokeswoman Dani Johnson of the welcome 1st Lt. Daniel Oglesby's daughter Karas gave him during the homecoming ceremony, reported the Associated Press. She said that the gesture had everyone laughing, including the general.

"She was excited. She spotted me from a couple rows back, and she couldn't contain herself. I wasn't gonna tell her no," said Oglesby, according to Newsday.

Oglesby said that he hugged and kissed his daughter and sent her back to her mother and sister, reported the SF Gate.
