Authorities reported that they have found two cousins alive in Kentucky's Red River Gorge after they had gone missing for nearly a day during a camping trip.

More than 100 people joined the effort to locate Michael Esposito, 5, and his cousin, Adrian Ross, 7, after they allegedly wandered off Thursday evening as their families were setting up camp, Kentucky State Police Master Trooper Joe Veeneman said, according to the Associated Press.

The boys were found about two miles from the family campsite, said Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team Deputy Chief John May, noting that the two were found unharmed but hungry.

"They're just chowing down right now," May said in a telephone interview, according to Reuters. "They looked like they've been in a Holiday Inn all night. So, they're fine. They're just hungry."

The two boys were immediately checked out by medical staff upon their discovery and were found to be in great condition, according to May.

Police said that they were relieved to find the boys so quickly given the difficultly the terrain is notable for, reported FOX's Indiana affiliate, FOX 59. The 60-plus-mile trail has spelled trouble for some in the past, as an Ohio man fell 60 feet in the area in 2014 while he was sleepwalking.
