Earlier this year, Taylor Swift famously got into a Twitter feud with rapper Nicki Minaj over the 2015 MTV Video Music Award nominations. In a new interview with NME, Swift reflected on her actions and talked about what she took away from the feud with Minaj.

"I don't want to talk about it," Swift initially said before she opened up about what she learned from the situation. "I send text messages now. If there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding, I go to someone's management, I get their number and I text them. It's an important lesson for anyone to learn in 2015."

Swift and Minaj got into the Twitter fight in July over the MTV VMA nominations. After the nominations were announced, Minaj sent out a series of tweets in which she criticized MTV and said if she was a "different 'kind' of artist," her hit song "Anaconda" would have been nominated for more awards.

"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year," read one of Minaj's tweets.

Swift thought Minaj was publicly calling her out on the social media site and decided to respond in the same manner.

"I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot," wrote Swift.

The two traded a couple more tweets before Swift apologized on Twitter and said she thought she was being called out, adding: "I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke."

The two made up in an even more public way when Swift joined Minaj onstage and helped her open the VMAs with her hit song "Trini Dem Girls."
