A co-pilot lost consciousness on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 6, onboard United Airlines flight 1614 enroute from Houston to San Francisco, according to ABC News. While in the air, the plane was diverted and landed in Albuquerque International Sunport, airport spokesman Daniel Jiron said.

Air-traffic controllers were alerted around 8 a.m. that the plane would be landing due to a medical condition of an officer who was second in command.

"The crew followed procedures and the aircraft landed safely," the airline added. "We are working to get our customers to their final destinations." The flight had a little under 200 people on it, with 177 passengers and 10 crew members, according to TPM News. After the co-pilot's  medical episode and regaining of consciousness, according to TPM News, the co-pilot was able to walk off the plane by himself.

As of right now there is no information as to what may have caused this medical episode or the current condition of the co-pilot.

This event happened a day after the death of a 57-year-old pilot, Michael Johnston, who died during a flight from Phoenix to Boston, according to CNN. He landed in Syracuse N.Y., and was received by doctors. Later medical examiners ruled his death was of natural causes.
