Miley Cyrus, who was on double-duty as host and as musical guest on "Saturday Night Live's" Season 41 premiere, left viewers confused when she broke down during an emotional performance of "The Twinkle Song."

Cyrus also performed "Karen Don't Be Sad" from her album, "Miley Cyrus & her Dead Petz," which she performed with a few members of the Flaming Lips, donning animal onesies, according to The Huffington Post.

The "Wrecking Ball" singer's "Twinkle Song" performance started off with the 22-year-old sitting at a piano decorated with feathers, streamers as well as framed pictures of her deceased pets (Floyd the puppy and Pablow the blowfish, among others) and ended with the singer in tears, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Cyrus was trying to hold back the tears as the song went on, but before the last verse, she was overwhelmed and tears started streaming down her cheeks as she concluded the powerful performance.

"Dear Floyd, thank you for sharing this magical moment with mommy," Cyrus wrote on Instagram after the performance. "I missssssssss yiewwwwww."
