E.R. nurse Jennifer Medina broke down when she realized the "code blue" patient in the room was her little brother, Cesar Andres Medina.

It was a busy Friday night for the emergency room at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, Calif. when an unresponsive patient came in, according to The New York Post. As doctors worked swiftly to save the 23-year-old hit-and-run victim, a colleague of Medina's searched for his identification. When his wallet was found, Medina immediately recognized it.

"Everything just collapsed. I just couldn't hold it together," Medina said through tears.

"The day I feared the most was the day I would see my little brother come in as a trauma patient to my work," said Medina, according to Pix 11. "October 2nd 2015 was the day."

Cesar Andres Medina was crossing a green light in San Juan Capistrano on Friday night when a pickup truck hit him, according to BT.

A GoFundMe account was set up to help the Medina family.

"I just want all the people he loved and loved him to get a chance to say their last good byes to him. All your donations are greatly appreciated in this difficult time. Anything will help. My family and I will forever be thankful for all the help emotionally and financially."

Orange County Sheriff's Department arrested Andrew Christopher Michaels, 19, on Saturday.
