A north Florida gunman left two dead and one critically injured Thursday before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

At about 6 p.m. law enforcement and EMS workers responded to a report of shots fired at a home in Inglis. When they arrived, they found two men on the front lawn, and officers immediately began to surround the home across from the town hall, believing that the reported shooter, 57-year-old Walter Tyson, was still active inside, according to the International Business Times.

One of the men shot on the lawn died and the other was in critical condition.

In the home, the gunman shot his estranged wife, Patricia Tyson, before taking his own life.

Authorities are not yet certain how the shooting started or why it happened.

"Based on information from people on scene, it appears that the incident started due to a domestic situation, but we're not able to confirm that yet," said Lt. Scott Tummond with the Levy County Sheriff's Department. "This is a very... tragic incident for this small community."

The men shot on the front lawn were identified as Walter S. Terhune and Otis G. Bean, the homeowner, according to the Inquisitr.

Terhune was pronounced dead by medical workers, and Bean was airlifted to a Florida hospital.
