It seems that DC Comics just can't stop making headlines. First we hear the Flash will be making an appearance on Arrow to possibly set the stage for a spin-off series. Next Commissioner Gordon was announced to be getting his own pre-Batman TV series that will follow his exploits as a detective in Gotham City. Finally John Constantine is rumored to be getting a TV show of his very own as well. But what about the cinematic universe?

As IGN points out, it's easy for people to forget that there's this exciting project in the works called "Batman vs. Superman" - or "Man of Steel 2," no one is sure yet.

David Goyer, one of the screenwriters behind the first Man of Steel and its sequel, who also worked on the Dark Knight trilogy, has told the Associated Press that the new film is actually further along than we thought.

"One of the things that has been fun for us is we're a bit further along than I think people realize," he said.

While this is very exciting news, it's unclear as of yet exactly what this means. Ben Affleck was only case as Batman a mere five weeks ago. The public didn't learn that Batman would even be in the sequel until two months ago when it was announced at Comic-Con.

Speaking of the casting of Affleck, which received a lot of negative attention with fans of the comics and Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy saying that the Argo star was all wrong for the role. Goyer addressed these concerns saying:

"From a fan point of view, we're conscious of that when you're working on these things, but you can't let yourself be paralyzed by that," he says. "At the end of the day you still have to create something. And if you try to think, 'Well, what would the fans like, what would the audience like?' then you stop being creative and it's sort of like where does it end? You have to write the story that you want to write and hope that people want to see it."
