The showdown between Netflix and the major theater chains officially starts this month when the streaming service debuts Cary Fukunaga's indie film, "Beasts of No Nation."
Netflix acquired distribution rights for the film for $12 million, its first such feature deal. The movie will simultaneously premiere in limited release in smaller and independent theaters.
On the TV side, Netflix will start streaming recent seasons of CW programs including popular freshmen shows, "Jane the Virgin" and "The Flash." Also, look for a collection of HGTV's home renovation series and the third season of Netflix original series, "Hemlock Grove."
