Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, in his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Monday, blamed the United States for the ongoing crisis in Middle East. "If we did not have the U.S. military invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and the United States' unwarranted support for the inhumane actions of the Zionist regime against the oppressed nation of Palestine, today the terrorists would not have an excuse for the justification of their crimes," Rouhani said, according to NBC News.

The Iranian President said the Iran nuclear deal was a victory over the war, adding that Tehran would continue to seek peace in Middle East.

"I can now proudly announce that today a new chapter has started in Iran's relations with the world," Rouhani said, according to Al Jazeera.

"It has managed to disperse the clouds of hostility and perhaps even the specter of another war and extensive tensions from the Middle East," he said, according to PTI.

Rouhani also held the Saudi government responsible for the Hajj stampede last week that killed 769 pilgrims, including 136 Iranian citizens.

"Many who had come together in the spiritual gathering hajj unfortunately fell victims to incompetence and mismanagement of those in charge," he said while calling on Saudi government to grant immediate consular access for the identification and return of the bodies of victims, according to Guardian.
