Don't include Marco Rubio in Donald Trump's "freak show." In his own words, the Florida Senator distanced himself from the real estate mogul on Monday, according to CNN.

Rubio and Trump have been exchanging barbs through the media for about a week since the two met at the last Republican debate. Trump called Rubio a "kid" before Rubio blasted him for his lack of experience in politics.

On Monday, Rubio had more to say about Trump during an interview, according to NPR. "I'm not interested in the back and forth to be a member or part of his freak show," Rubio said in the interview with NPR. "[Trump] doesn't like to be criticized. He responds to criticism very poorly."

Rubio is currently serving as one of Florida's senators. Trump has never served in office.

"His poll numbers have taken a beating, and he was embarrassed on national television at the debate by Carly Fiorina and others," Rubio said.

Trump has responded. "Rubio is a lightweight. We understand that. He wouldn't be able to do this. He wouldn't know a trade deal from any other deal," he said. Trump was speaking at a press conference when he was asked about Rubio's NPR interview, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Polling data shows that Rubio is tied for third place with Carly Fiorina in Republican primary polls, according to the poll released by NBC News and The Wall Street Journal on Sunday.
