Anthony Anderson's wife, Alvina Stewart Anderson, filed for divorce from him, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split, reported TMZ.

In divorce documents obtained by the gossip site, Alvina listed April 1, 2014, as the date of their separation, and is asking the court for spousal support. According to E! News, Raina Falcon, a spokeswoman for the actor, confirmed the court filing Friday and said the two have been separated for some time.

The high school sweethearts tied the knot in 1995 and were married for 20 years. They have two children together: daughter Kyra, 19, and son Nathan, 15. Alvina is seeking joint legal custody and primary physical custody of their youngest with Anthony getting "reasonable visitation" rights.

Anthony recently earned a best comedy lead actor Emmy nomination for his role as Andre "Dre" Johnson in the ABC sitcom "Black-ish." The show follows an African-American family as they try to get in touch with their culture. The actor is also the host of the Food Network series "Carnival Cravings with Anthony Anderson," and is set to appear in "Barbershop 3" with Queen Latifah and Common.
