Glenn Close and her husband David Shaw have recently divorced without anyone knowing.

The 68-year-old actress and venture capitalist were married for nine years before quietly splitting, Page Six reported. Close will now be returning to New York so she can focus on her already successful acting career.

"Glenn and David have been telling friends over the summer they are divorcing," a source said. "And he'll remain living in Maine while Glenn moves back to New York full-time. They've been separated for some time, and things are amicable between them. The divorce was mutual."

Shaw was Close's third marriage, and while people are saying that she was the one to divorce him, they want people to understand that it was completely mutual, according to E! News. "She did not divorce him," her rep said. Sometime over the past three months, they made the decision to privately separate.

Back in 2007, just a year after they tied the knot, Close couldn't help but gush over her new husband. "He's one of the most creative people I've ever met," she told Good Housekeeping at the time. "He's a brilliant man."

While in New York, Close will be working on many of the films she has coming up, including "The Great Gilly Hopkins," which will come out later this year, and "Wilde Wedding," which will begin shooting later this month.
