Real Madrid has its eyes on Chinese defender Zhang Linpeng for a January move, according to Bleacher Report. The official move was first reported by China's Government TV channel, CCTVS.

During the summer, it appeared that Linpeng was headed to Premier League side Chelsea, according to Reuters. In the end, a supposed deal with Real Madrid and Linpeng was talked over and decided upon. There is no official word from either Madrid or Linpeng's club, Guangzhou Evergrande about the deal being done.

Reports over the summer of his transfer to Chelsea were even confirmed by Linpeng, and yet here we sit and he is still playing in China.

Linpeng's playing style has drawn a lot of attention in rest seasons with comparisons between him and Sergio Ramos emerging. Making a move to Madrid would be even better for the Chinese International. His technical ability has become his defining trait and would make any backline exceedingly better.

The only question marks in this "supposed" deal circle around neither side having issued an official statement of this move. The other factor is that Los Blancos already hold four talented center backs in Ramos, Nacho, Raphael Varane and Pepe.

Maybe this deal could combat the potential loss of Varane in January to Manchester United? The world of soccer is always changing and as fans know by now, a deal is never done until there is an introduction ceremony for the player.
