English residents are horrified at the thought of giant house spiders invading their homes, mating and laying eggs, according to ITV News.

Macclesfield residents in Cheshire have been battling the invasions of spiders in their town since summer rains forced the creatures to find warmer places to dwell and mate, according to the Machester Evening News.

Reports have indicated that the spiders can be around 12 cm long, or as big as mice and other small vermin.

There are also reports of the spiders being a lot less skittish, chasing some people right out of the room.

"These things are seriously big. Imagine the horror on my son's face when he spotted this big boy on his wall," said Macclesfield resident Nick Oldham.

Brittain is seeing an infux of the creatures, as the summer has brought beneficial conditions for the spiders.

"I think because we've had a rather nice warm and wet summer, there have been plenty insects and other invertebrates that the spiders prey on, so they have come in rather early," said Newcastle University invertebrate neurobiologist Claire Rind.

The town is afraid that the shelter-seeking arachnids will attempt to lay hundreds of eggs, driving them out of their very own homes, according to Daily Mail.
