Catherine Greig, the girlfriend of convicted murderer and mobster James "Whitey" Bulger, was indicted for contempt of court on Tuesday, according to Reuters. When asked about the couple's 16 years spent in hiding, Greig repeatedly refused to testify.

Greig allegedly refused to testify during trial proceedings before a grand jury from December 2014 through Tuesday, according to CBS Boston.

"Catherine Greig has yet again failed to do the right thing. Her refusal to testify has hindered the FBI's efforts to seek justice for the victims of his crimes," Joseph Bonavolonta, the acting special agent of the Boston division of the FBI, said on Tuesday, according to CBS Boston.

The 64-year-old is already serving time in prison for helping Bulger avoid arrest for the 16 years they were on the run, according to CNN. She plead guilty in 2012 on charges of conspiracy to harbor a fugitive and identity theft, and was sentenced to eight years in federal prison, but filed for an appeal a year later.

The two were originally arrested in 2011 after authorities tracked them down at their seaside apartment in Santa Monica, according to CNN.

The life of "Whitey" Bulger has been highly popularized, his life inspiring the 2006 film "The Departed" and the newly-released film "Black Mass," according to Reuters.
