World leaders will hold their annual meeting at the United Nations that will commence on Friday. The Syrian refugee situation has called all the nations' leaders to discuss on of the worst crisis that Europe and the world has faced ever since the organization was formed 70 years ago.

On the agenda of the meeting is dealing with the Islamic State. President Barack Obama of the United States will head a meeting on counterterrorism to address the dilemma regarding foreign terrorist fighters and life-threatening extremism, Reuters reported.

Before the three-day General Assembly starts, Pope Francis will conduct a talk on Friday which would open the meeting between over 150 world leaders that will officially decide on on a worldwide sustainable development agenda that will be utilized for the next 15 years, according to Ten Eyewitness News.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who was able to meet the pope thrice at the Vatican, will be present during the private meeting with the Holy See.

"We have been discussing many issues, including poverty eradication and migration, refugee issues, last time, and most importantly, climate change," Ban said, according to the Voice of America.

The speech will be delivered at the General Assembly Hall.

"Remarkably, he seems to have emerged as a real voice of global moral authority on things like refugees and climate change. A lot of people will be looking to him and what he has to say about the state of the world," diplomatic consultant, Carne Ross added.

The framework to followed for this meeting will be themed as, "Transforming Our World: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" which will contain a Declaration, 17 Sustainable Development Goals and around 169 targets that will focus on the implementation and renewal of global partnerships, another framework for review and follow-up, UN News Centre reported.
