Amazon announced Wednesday, two new additions to its Kindle Fire lineup, which offer 3 times more processing power, two times more memory, increased battery life, better clarity with new HDX display, Mayday button for instant on-device technical assistance and lots more.

Amazon, world's largest online retailer, has introduced new members to its Kindle Fire family. The two new additions in the Kindle Fire tablet lineup are a major leap from the predecessors in terms of performance, clarity, design and more. The two new Kindle Fire HDX tablets come with a 7-inch screen and an 8.9-inches screen.

With new companies joining the so called "tablet race" to win over new customers with attractive designs at cheaper prices, it gets tougher for existing tablet makers to maintain the consistency in fulfilling the needs of their customers at the same time attract new ones. With Christmas coming our way, all retailers have opted to either drop prices on electronic gadgets or introduce new ones in the market. So it is not surprising to see Amazon come up with new additions to its famous Kindle Fire lineup.

The new Kindle Fire HDX tablets are the first to feature Amazon's exclusive HDX display, which is beyond high-definition with exceptional pixel density at 1920x1200 screen resolution for the 7-inch version and 2560x1600 for the 8.9-inch tablet. It displays best quality image projection and dynamic image contrast. This makes it easier to watch videos even in bright conditions.

"It's been just two years since we introduced the first Kindle Fire, and the team is innovating at an unbelievable speed," Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO, said in a press release. "2.2 GHz processor, 339 ppi display, new 34% lighter design, Fire OS 3.0, and new exclusive features like the Mayday button, X-Ray for Music, Second Screen, and Prime Instant Video downloads. We've worked hard to pack this much hardware, innovation, and customer obsession into these prices."

Both Kindle Fire HDX devices have 3 times more processing power with quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2 GHz and 2 times more memory with the latest graphics engine. The devices have astounding design with 34 percent lesser weight than its previous models.

The introduction of Mayday button can be a time saver for many non-tech savvy users, who'd like to have experts' assistance. The new 24/7, 365 days a year free tech support can be easily accessed via a single touch and an Amazon expert will remotely assist with any query. Amazon says the response time goal to receive assistance from Mayday feature is 15 seconds or even less.

The new Fire HDX has long lasting battery for extensive readers, up to 11 hours of mixed usage and 17 hours of reading. The 8.9-inch Fire HDX sports 8-megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash and both devices have front facing cameras for video chatting purposes. The devices run on the latest version of Fire OS, the Mojito.

The 7-inch Kindle Fire HD (Wi-Fi only) is available for pre-orders at $229 for 16GB version, $269 and $309 for 32GB and 64GB, respectively. The device also comes with 4G LTE support with AT&T and Verizon for extra $100. Amazon will start shipping October 18.

The 8.9-inch tablet (Wi-Fi only) is available for pre-orders, starting from $379 for 16GB, $429 for 32GB and $479 for 64GB. The 4G LTE supported device with AT&T and Verizon will be available for an extra $100. The device will be released Nov. 7, 2013.
