Amazon on Tuesday released the latest Kindle Paperwhite 2.0, packed with advanced technology, light weight and 25 percent faster.

Amazon officially announced the sixth generation of Kindle, the newest Kindle Paperwhite 2.0, Tuesday. The new Kindle Paperwhite is the successor to the current e-reader, which is not even a year old. The sixth generation Kindle carries a faster processor, new display technology, improved touch functions, and is slightly lighter than its predecessor.

"Kindle is the best-selling e-reader in the world for six years running," Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, said in a press statement. "No one is investing on behalf of readers or pushing the boundaries of hardware, software and content for readers like this team: the new Kindle Paperwhite has brand-new display technology, the next generation of our built-in light, a faster processor, plus all of the exclusive benefits of the Kindle ecosystem like Kindle MatchBook, Kindle Owners' Lending Library, over 400,000 exclusive titles, Goodreads, Kindle Singles, Kindle Worlds, Kindle FreeTime, and much more."

Long hours of reading is made more comfortable with higher contrast and better reflectivity with the latest E Ink Carta display. The new Paperwhite packs a 25 percent faster processor than its predecessor's 800MHz. The new built-in light distributes equal amount of light across the display for comfortable reading experience and 19 percent tighter touch grid enables more accurate response to touches.

The new e-reader allows users to flip pages, chapters or skip to the end of the book without losing the current page. It includes something called as "smart lookup," which understands the necessity to find meaning of a word, character, topic, or book via X-Ray and Wikipedia. Other new features include In-line Footnotes, Kindle MatchBook, Goodreads Integration, Kindle FreeTime and Vocabulary Builder.

The anti-glare display allows perfect reading, even in bright sunlight. The new Paperwhite has extended battery life for up to 8 weeks. Wi-Fi and free 3G integration allow easy access to millions of books, newspapers and magazines.

The new Kindle Paperwhite 2.0 can be pre-ordered via Amazon at a special price for $119, which is $20 less than its regular price. However, the device will not be shipped until September 30.
