There have been rumors swirling around for a while that a sequel to the 1996 Michael Jordan film "Space Jam" is going to happen. Nothing has been confirmed on that front but all signs have pointed to a potential sequel coming at some point. The obvious choice to play the role Jordan did in the first film is LeBron James considering he is always compared to Jordan and he is the best player in the NBA nowadays but another player that has been in the rumors is Blake Griffin. Griffin said that he would love to be in a "Space Jam 2" if it was an option, according to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders.

Griffin was a huge fan of "Space Jam" when he was growing up and says that if he were offered to be involved in any capacity at all he would jump on the opportunity.

"Oh absolutely. I'd love to be involved in any capacity, really. Space Jam was a huge part of my childhood. I actually had a Space Jam themed birthday party as a teen. Then, when I turned 21, my friends got me a Space Jam cake again just to re-live the glory days. It has been a big thing for me so being able to be involved in any capacity would be great, even just being one of the guys that's in there would be cool," said Griffin.

LeBron has made it clear that he really wants "Space Jam 2" to happen but Warner Bros. has not officially announced whether they will do it, according to Stephanie Marcus of the Huffington Post. Aside from James really wanting a sequel to happen Warner Bros. also filed for new trademarks for "Space Jam" back in June and LeBron signed with Warner Bros., according to Ryan Faughnder of the Los Angeles Times, which makes it seem like a sequel is definitely in the works.

If a sequel were to happen it seems pretty apparent that LeBron will be the lead in the movie but like Griffin said he would like to be involved in any way possible. The first movie had plenty of other NBA players in the movie besides Jordan so if the sequel is made Griffin would likely be involved in some way. To this day "Space Jam" is still the highest grossing basketball movie of all time which is another sign this movie might just get made.
