A student from the Seagoville High School has been assigned to in-school suspension on Monday after the school administrator caught the student with a T-shirt designed with the American flag behind an eagle in the foreground hidden under his hoodie.

The mother of the high school student who was put in an in-school suspension said that her son Jaegur is very dedicated to ROTC and wanted to eventually earn a scholarship under the program. "He wants to go into the military," Shelly Goode said, according to Fox. "He wants to help people, and any bad marks doesn't look good."

The school administrator said that Jaegur's shirt design violated the school dress code and was punished with an in-school suspension afterwards. In the Dallas high school, all students are required only to wear shirts with solid colors or shirt with school logos, college logo shirts and even ones that show support for the U.S military.

"If [Jaegur] was breaking the rules, he would be punished and he would have to honor whatever they give him, but he wasn't, and I have to stand by him for that," Goode said, according to the Washington Times.

While on Fox 4, the mother was asked if, "Why doesn't [the shirt Jaegur wore] count?," Diana Zoga said, according to Fox 5 NY.

"I have no idea," the mother answered. "I would like that answer."

On Tuesday, the principal apologized to the mother for having the Texas student suspended.

"The fact that acknowledging it is huge, and the fact that they're willing to stand by and see mistakes and grow from them, that means a lot," Goode said.

The principal added that the offense will not be reflected on Jaegur's disciplinary record.
