"We got him!" Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced via Twitter tonight. And that is how the rest of the world knew that there was a suspect in custody for the Arizona sniper shootings.

The Arizona DPS Swat team has captured 21-year-old Leslie Allen Merritt and have taken him into custody for the shootings that have plagued the valley of the sun for the last several weeks.

On Friday night, a spokesman for Gov. Doug Ducey announced that a suspect has been arrested at a Walmart store in Glendale, a Phoenix suburb, according to the New York Daily News.

"BREAKING: We got him! DPS SWAT team is in custody of the individual suspected of I-10 shootings. Apprehended moments ago," Ducey tweeted. The governor followed with another tweet, "Great work by Arizona DPS investigators and SWAT team," according to USA Today.

Eleven confirmed shootings involving vehicles along I10 and I17 have occurred since Aug. 29. There has been none since Sept 10, although copy cats have been arrested for using a sling shot to "fire granite rock at vehicles and people," as previously reported by HNGN.

Arizona DPS Director Frank Milstead also confirmed the suspect is in custody at time. Merrit has "anti-government" views and allegedly used a handgun, says RT.
