New evidence has surfaced that bullets shot by police may have hit some bikers during the May shootout in Waco, Texas between two biker gangs, the Bandidos and Cossacks. The shootout left nine people dead and 20 injured and led to the arrest of 177 people, and 430 weapons were recovered by Waco police afterwards.

There were many guns at the scene of the crime, and the officers "just started laying them on the ground away from the suspects," officer Joshua Fischer wrote in a report, according to the Associated Press. With this high rate of injuries and death, some have looked to police for answers regarding their intelligence about the matter at hand. While officers have issued responses, they have not directly responded to certain questions. Waco Police Chief Brent Stroman said in June that three officers fired a total of 12 shots but declined to say whether the shots struck anyone, Kvue reported.

The discovery was made only after reviewing evidence including a video that shows people fleeing the scene while shots ring out and audio of police threatening to shoot people who rise from the ground, according to Fox News. So far, the evidence has not shown whether or not the police struck anyone when they fired shots. However, more intel may be provided in the future.
