AMC's "The Walking Dead" has cast "24's" Xander Berkeley in a potential long-term role, TVLine reports.

Berkeley has recently appeared in "Nikita," "Being Human," "Salem" and "Zoo" and will be seen in a mysterious season six role in the smash hit series "The Walking Dead." TVLine reports that the secret role is not that of the villainous comic book big bad Negan. However, the outlet reports that Berkeley's character does share some similarities to Negan. Specifically, "his narcissim, huge ego and self-preservation. He's also said to relish the superiority that comes with being in control, but he plays it off with a car salesman-type charm."

Berkeley will make his first on-air appearance during the second half of "The Walking Dead's" sixth season (the first half premieres Sunday, Oct. 11 at 9:00 PM ET). His contract comes with a series-regular option for season seven, hinting at big plans for the actor.
