New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers had and MRI on Monday, following an ankle injury against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano.

The Giants lost the game 27-26, but the ninth pick in the 2015 NFL Draft played through the injury. "They're doing the usual number of MRIs," head coach Tom Coughlin said, via ESPN. "He did injure the ankle early on, and he gutted it out and finished the game. But today is a different day. He was limited to a certain extent because of the injury, but I thought he battled away, and that's what we always counted on - that he would battle. And he did."

Flowers is a huge part of the Giants' offense, as they needed to address the offensive line. Both the run and passing game needed help on the line, and bringing in the 6-foot-6, 329 pound lineman from Miami figured to be the solution. The Cowboys recorded one sack on Sunday night, but still pressured quarterback Eli Manning.

New York's offensive line is still a work in progress, but is much improved from a season ago. Due to the Injury of Will Beatty this offseason, Flowers was inserted into the starting lineup right away. It is unclear the significance of the injury, but look for Justin Pugh to move to tackle if Flowers can't go.

The Giants will likely have to add a lineman to their roster if Flowers' injury is substantial. They play the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, and will likely need their 2015 top pick against the Falcons pass rush.
